[Offre d’emploi] Post-doctorat à l’Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona – Medieval Latin Philology, Manuscript Studies, Transcultural Medieval Studies

Présentation

Within the framework of the running projects ‘Preaching Christ from a Transcultural Standpoint: Study and Critical Edition of the Homiliary of Luculentius, the Oldest Indigenous Work of Carolingian Text Culture in Early Medieval Catalonia (ca. 900)’’ (2019–2023) and ‘Carolingian Culture in Septimania and Catalonia: The Transformation of a Multi-Ethnic Middle Ground of the Euro-Mediterranean World’ (2020–2024), funded by a private Catalan sponsor and the Austrian FWF and located at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Institut d’Estudis Medievals (IEM)/Departament de Ciències de l’Antiquitat i de l’Edat Mitjana, Bellaterra, and the Institute for Medieval Research (IMAFO) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Vienna, we are searching for a new candidate interested in a postdoctoral position at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), sponsored by the European funding programme Marie Skłodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023.

For more information on both research projects:

https://webs.uab.cat/luculentius/

https://www.oeaw.ac.at/imafo/forschung/historische-identitaetsforschung/projekte/carolingian-culture-in-septimania-and-catalonia/

The common aim of both projects is the identification, reconstruction, and interpretation of the Carolingian and post-Carolingian text culture of south-western and southern France and the north-eastern and northern parts of the Iberian Peninsula in the long tenth century (c. 900–1050). We analyse and publish critically this rich, but widely scattered and fragmented and therefore under-studied text culture in order to understand the manifold processes of early medieval identity building in the south-western border zone of the Carolingian Empire and beyond.

At the core of our projects stands the development of the interactive Database Cat.car (“Carolingian Text Culture in Septimania and Catalonia”): http://postcarolingianworld.ac.at/resources2/.

Both projects offer synergetic effects for your own individual projects implemented into the research agenda of the running projects and their wider frame of the established international research network “The Transformation of the Carolingian World”: http://postcarolingianworld.ac.at/. You will be engaged in your own research, the development of the above-mentioned Database, and the presentation of interim results in sponsored national and international workshops and conferences organised for a wider academic and non-academic public. You envisage a collaboration with two internationally leading Principal Investigators, several experienced post-doctoral researchers and further motivated PhD students from Europe and the USA. We offer scientific and linguistic support in preparing your strong research proposal for a postdoctoral position within the European research programme of Marie Skłodowska Curie Fellowships 2023:
